  Strawberry Fields Festival

So possibly the last festival of the season for bear was cool. Aside from the never before seen police dogs INSIDE the arena causing a bit of an odd atmosphere much fun was had.

The lads played (nearly) a 4 hour set in the main bar on the Saturday night to some massively enthusiastic peeps. Inbetween fending off requests (some good...some awful) and wrecked people falling into the decks bear laid down a solid hour thirty of Soul and Motown before ramping things up as the bar packed out. Some old school hip hop dropped by to surprisingly big reactions followed up by a load of breaks and mashups. So much fun was being had that the set ended before the bears had even touched on the dubstep and d&b arsenal.

Although security and health & safety definitely played their part in that...Kelis at Strawberry Fields

Literally with 10 minutes to go security came in demanding the music stop immediately before dragging the bears outside and threatening to throw them off site for breaching the licence. In BB's defence when told conflicting things by peeps you're always going to go with the soundguy for the venue, especially if its the option that keeps the crowd happy...

Despite the cut short set the festival was awesome. A-skillz, jaguar skills and most surprisingly Kelis all smashed it as well as seeing few other cool things here and there.....the best being the bumper cars, fuckin epic.

So maybe Bear won't get invited back, shame, good to come and go with a bang though...

  Playgroup Festival

Dinosaur costume dude at Playgroup 2011So Playgroup was cool, aside from the carnage that is inevitably going to ensue at a new festival things went smoothly. Bear played in the 'Trust the Fox' tent on Saturday evening. The earliest show in Bear's career the Sun decided to do battle with the visuals, wasn't too bad though. Loud tunes were played and enjoyed by all. Look forward to next year. Lots of cool bands were seen, Phoria were to chill to on the Sunday, Mean Poppa Lean are always a joy to watch. Check out this dudes costume, by far the best of the fest and million times better than our efforts, click on his face for loads more random festival pictures courtesy of apergee

  The Sun Website hacked

The Sun newspaper's website has been targeted by hacking group the Lulz Boat (follow @lulzsec on twitter for live updates).

Initially redirecting sun.co.uk visitors to a site reporting on the much beleaguered Rupert Murdoch's death, the redirect then took visitors to the Lulzsec twitter feed. Starting at around 11pm (GMT) the group tweeted regularly about how they were giving the sun's admin headaches before foiling the systems entirely and sending people to their own twitter feed.

Lulzsec, who picked up an at least 35,000 followers during the crusade, have a an impressive history when it comes to taking on big companies. FOX, the FBI and SONY have all come under attack this year. Crucially though, the attacks have never been financially motivated. Instead the group go for companies that are wrongfully abusing their power and status, one tweet regarding the sun hack reads "we couldn't sit by with our wine watching this walnut-faced Murdoch clowning around."

Fair play to whoever’s involved, may they not be caught and continue their honourable quest. Perhaps the modern revolution will not be by marching in the streets but by stopping the powers that be online and exposing the wrongs that are so thinly, but often adequately, veiled.

As lulzsec themselves put it "Never stop sailing. You are free." Yes we the population are. The media and governments or anyone else answerable to us are not, and never should be. At least until they can be trusted to start telling the truth...

  THIS WEBSITE....

is currently being built by bears, that why it looks a bit of mess.
It could be a while, the bears aren't picking up coding very quickly.
It's getting expensive as well, three laptops so far, they're probably getting frustrated when they can't get things to line up or something.
Would probably be quicker to do it ourselves. Oh well, like I said might take a while.

Mr P.Group & sons (formally Hectors)

So Hectors House has been bought by the Playgroup peeps, with only 2 days notice they've revamped the place and the Bear boys had the pleasure of playing. They where were only meant to be on for a hour but the greedy bastards stayed on for 2!
Not only that but they've also got an invite to play at the Playgroup Festival in August! If last year is anything to go by it's going to be supergreat, especially if the bears are there, wonder if they'll invite me this time? Anyways peace for now.

  Stortford Music Festival

Was wicked. Few technical difficulties to begin with just meant the lads went harder when they finally got to play. The dance tent was sick with a heavy soundsystem, big ups to the Resident Ravers for putting together an excellent setu more dets and pics to follow.

Gusto, BearDVJs and the new live show

Yo, milky here, apologies for he delay since the last post but the lads sent me off bear trekking in the New Forest. They wanted 'research' for the next album apparently, anyways I got lost and was there for months and didn't see a single bear, bloody liars, I'm sure they're trying to avoid taking me to gigs. Anyways so apparently the lads have been active. They played at a launch night for 'Gusto' at the Louise Blouin Art Gallery, amazing venue and proper green room treatment, sounded awesome (see pics). Reports that the band then got horrendously drunk and threw a window out of a TV are unsubstantiated. The DJing arm of the band have been holding down their residency at Hector's House in Brighton, as always with bear the sets are constantly evolving to include new ideas. Maison was prattling something about sexed to death the other day, I wasn't really listening. Think they play the first saturday of every month, havent really paid much attention as I never seem to be invited. On the live front the chaps have been back in the studio to rearrange the live set, having drafted in Ash on bass the show is more of a 'band' thing now, Wells has even taken to the drums. The new look show is gonna be out and about early next year so be read y to check it. That's it for now I gotta go, I wonder where I'm off to. Milky xx

  Fireworks, Swine Flu, Ocean Rooms

Guy Fawkes night goddamit and Train is currently sat in bed nursing himself through the shitty pig flu. Typical. We were all supposed to go to Lewes fireworks and get down in some serious pagan fashion. But no, Train is laid up shivering somewhere in West London. And I was banking on that £20 he still owes me from the Liverpool trip. Bastard. Best laid plans and all that. For those of you that are outside the UK and not familiar with Guy Fawkes or fireworks night, its basically an English tradition in the autumn/fall, remembering a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament back in 1605. Fawkes was a religious wackjob who wanted everyone to be Catholic instead of Protestant, blah, blah, blah, whatever, and so he decided to blow up the Parliament using gunpowder with some of his other religious freakazoid mates. The plot was foiled, the spazzheads were caught, and Fawkes was executed in the New Year. Left: madhead Ever since then we remember this occasion in the UK by forcing children to create realistic effigies of Fawkes, and then we used to get them to go around people's houses, and walk around the local area saying 'penny for the Guy' to raise some cash. They don't do that much these days as the media's put a lot of effort into making everyone think everyone else is a murderer, rapist, conman or paedo. So we take this effigy of Guy Fawkers and stick him on top of an enormous bonfire and cheer as he goes up in flames, all the while stuffing our faces with various sweet treats and watching fireworks (a later addition to the festivities), and saying 'oooooh, aaaaaaah'. Its a wonderfully acceptable pagan ritual, and quintessentially British. Lewes fireworks is particularly tasty - there's a few good pics here, although nothing wil really do it justice like popping along: http://www.responsibletravel.com/community/album/image/default.aspx?id=3... Someone always gets injured. Last time we went they had made a paper mache statue of the Pope that was carried out on the back of a lorry - it was huge. Then? They blew the fucker up. Ground shook and fireworks went everywhere. Couldn't hear for a few seconds. Then they wheeled out another one - Gerry Adams... Train being ill with two days to go until the Ocean Rooms night means that the chaps are having to re-think things in case he is still in bed with my money. A few different ideas are bouncing around at the moment and they assure me that they'll be ready with something fresh come Saturday night, and it should be a good one, BreakinBear on 11pm, with DJs after and four bands before. Hopefully catch you there. Milky x

Providence, gigs & the new website

Yo, Milky here with a couple of vids from the gig last night at Prov, not sure why I'm adding these after the grief the lads gave me last time. Alright so I pointed the camera the wrong way (well not my fault though it was Trainys, or Wells, or Maisons....bloody Train probably) I did catch a bloke in the crowd dancing with his umbrella though so not all bad One full length for new track 'Streets of London' and a couple of clips. Cheers to everyone who checked it out, wicked reactions. Next Gigs are - Bear DVJs @ Hectors 1st May 10 BreakinBear @ Hectors 3rd July 10 New website is on the way.....
